What do your shoes say about you?

Deborah Kerbel's new YA novel, Girl on the Other Side focuses on two very different teenage girls and the secret struggles that bring their lives crashing together.

Tabby is rich, pretty and the most popular girl in her class. On the other side, Lora is smart, timid and the constant target of bullies.

As you can see, the cover of the book is all about their shoes. Before the girls become known to each other, shoes are the way they ‘size each other up’.

And if you really think about it, shoes can say a lot about what’s going on in a person’s life. From beach-loving flip-flop girls to high-heeled Manolo lovers, shoes are an expression of our personalities. So here’s a chance to let the world know what your shoes say about you…and win some signed books and a pile of new shoe money while you’re at it!!

Here’s what to do:

1. Sign in to your Facebook account

2. Go to Deborah’s Fan Page and become a fan.

3. Post a picture of your favourite pair of shoes on the wall with a line explaining ‘what your shoes say about you.’ The picture can be of you wearing the shoes, holding them, hugging them. Or just a straight picture of shoes you like with a line explaining how they reflect your personality. Be creative and original and fun.

4. The person with the most ‘like’ votes by November 21 will win a $200 gift certificate to Browns Shoes (the most awesome shoe store ever!) as well as 2 signed copies of ‘Girl on the Other Side’. If the winner is an American resident, they will instead receive 2nd place and the first eligible Canadian entry will be elevated to first. The 2nd place winner will receive 2 signed copies of Girl on the Other Side (one for you and one for a friend).

5. You’re welcome to invite as many people to vote for you as you can, but remember, each voter must be a fan and can only ‘like’ your entry once.
