A.H. Telfer

Alexander Herkes Telfer was a member of the party led by the Haliburton surveyor Alexander Niven, who was responsible for running the lines for seven townships around the head of Lake Temiskaming. The child of Scottish immigrants who settled in Scarborough, Ontario, A.H. Telfer logged his experiences in a personal diary, revealing a love of new frontiers and adventure that the hardships of life could not diminish.

Lorene DiCorpo

Lorene DiCorpo is a retired educator who grew up in the Sudbury area of northern Ontario and now resides in Brampton. During her elementary and secondary teaching careers she taught English, History and Special Education. As a member of the Scottish Studies Foundation and the Ontario Genealogical Society, Lorene continues to research her Anglo-Scottish and French-Canadian roots in North America and the United Kingdom.
