Submissions

Thank you for your interest in The Dundurn Group. If you wish to submit a manuscript for our consideration, first ensure that your book is a good fit with our publishing program. Please browse our website, including the company history, to learn more about the kinds of books we publish.

Your submission package must include the following:

  • A cover letter.
  • A self-addressed, stamped envelope large enough to return your work. Even if you do not want your work returned, please enclose a letter-sized envelope for our response.
  • A one-page (250-word) synopsis of the contents of your book. For non-fiction, please include a table of contents.
  • A resume or CV that includes an outline of your past publishing experience
  • A marketing plan for your book
  • At least three sample chapters of your book. Please DO NOT send complete manuscripts unless personally requested by a member of Dundurn’s editorial staff.
  • A sample formatted with Times New Roman font (or a comparable font), 12-point type, double-spacing, standard margins (1"-1.5").
  • A word count for the complete manuscript.

Important Notes:

  • We DO NOT accept email submissions. Electronic submissions will receive no response.
  • We DO NOT publish children's books for readers under seven years of age. This includes picture books.
  • We do our best to keep up with submissions, but your patience is appreciated in the case of delays. Please DO NOT telephone Dundurn to inquire about the status of your submission. All inquiries should be emailed to info@dundurn.com.
  • Editorial comment and/or feedback will not be provided unless Dundurn decides to pursue your project further.
  • If you are submitting from outside of Canada, please enclose an International Reply Coupon with your self-addressed envelope. Postage from other countries is not recognized by Canada's postal system.

It is important that you address your submission to “Acquisitions Editor” so that it will be promptly logged into our system, allowing us to track its progress. It will then be passed on to the appropriate person for consideration.
We will do our best to respond to non-fiction submissions within three months of receiving the material. Fiction submissions will be reviewed twice annually, in the spring and in the fall.

Multiple submissions are accepted.
